From being a teenager, I suffered with chronic knee pain, which persisted over the years despite strength training and an increasingly active lifestyle. Upon seeking help, I was frustrated and disheartened with the care I received – a rushed appointment, no hands-on assessment and a generic exercise sheet. I was being diagnosed without being properly assessed and unsurprisingly the sit to stand exercise was not helping me when I was already years into progressive strength training.
I graduated from Teesside University with a BSc (hons) Biological Sciences and MSc Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation – keen to fix my own pain and help others with theirs.
In 2019 I set up my business and since then I have continued to hone my skills and practice, working with clients to help treat and manage both acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems.
I have genuine care and interest in helping people and take pride in offering the best possible service to my clients. I believe in honesty, transparency and educating clients to understand their pain and how to manage or treat it. Proper assessment and rehabilitation should always be priority before considering invasive surgeries and long-term medications (which may mask an issue or not even help).
Much like a foundation determines the integrity of the final building – I believe the body should be looked at as a whole. ‘You are only as strong as your weakest link’ type thing. Pain is complex, and if you’re treating the root cause of the issue the correct way, in many instances the body responds and begins to heal.
In my free time I love lifting weights, being outdoors and doing anything in the sun or water!
